This Summer I'm a Full Time Witer

I have been telling people my plan for the past week just so I hold myself accountable.

9 am: Wake up AND do regular human things like wash my face and the like. I get dressed in real clothes including a bra. The type of behavior that people who are not on summer break engage in. The bra is especially important.

Sometime after 9 am: make coffee and drink it outside luxuriously.

A little later, let's say 10:30: Open my computer and do not open any social media. Instead I will ACTUALLY FOR REAL I MEAN IT open my work on the 3rd-ish round of edits. This is a very important part of this process: I will NOT start at the beginning. I will go to where I left off and work forward. This involves turning over my awesome hourglass (which is actually for an hour) as part of my commitment to not distracting myself with all the suddenly-very-important things.

Also important: I will not make my major plot changes. Yes, I will make notes, but it's important that I not apply them in case I address them later.

It is important to make a note here: I just noticed an old, half-filled water bottle and took it outside to give a little extra to the struggling gardenia. I then picked up the gnome and brought him in to clean up and, later, plan to paint.

Having done that, I am now mentally self-flagellating and about to close this post and actually open my document.

I'm turning over the hourglass NOW.

Firewalls

Hello!

It's been awhile.

I used to really enjoy blogging and used it as part of my writing process. Putting my thoughts out there was a great way to warm up and reset myself as an author. As I started being more successful in pitching to publishers, my effort on this platform waned.

Well, I'm back. I make no promises as to how consistent I will be going forward, but I accept that about myself. As long as I'm writing, I'll consider myself a winner. Yay!

Really though, one major deterrent to following through with my blog was the fact that my computer had all sorts of firewalls and considered my blog to be inappropriate. In a way, that was affirming. I write romance; I hope I'm a little inappropriate.

I have written three more complete manuscripts since I last posted. I have three off to a good start, and an unknown number of projects that I started strong and then... nothing. My main focus is still Elizabethan historical romance, but I've dabbled in a couple paranormal soft-horror romances. Those were fun and part of me wants to keep going (I have ALL the ideas), but there is only one of me.

I hope to be more active on this platform. I already feel like I'm starting my summer (teacher here) with a good start as a professional author.

Just for fun and because a little self promotion doesn't hurt, below is a link to my website (fun fact, my graphic designers censored my cleavage just a touch).

Also in the self-promotion vein, feel free to leave reviews. They are a true gift.

See you anon.

Erin
